A century-old, brick bungalow renovation

Project Overview: This century-old bungalow had good bones, great light, curved walls, and a very dated interior. Though its many charms were mostly obscured by old carpeting, textured walls, and grime from years of neglect, Monica noted its potential immediately and purchased it as an investment property, having always wanted to tackle an old-home remodel. She worked to determine how best to utilize the existing floor plan, which hadn’t been designed for modern living. She preserved the crown molding, five-panel doors, and transom windows, and spent hours re-imagining the small, awkward kitchen. A fireplace that had long since been covered in drywall was exposed and restored to its original brick, lending warmth to the space. The result is a modern and charming home wherein attention to detail is evident and its historic value both respected and restored.
